More than a year back, my beloved uncle fell in love and decided to marry a Nepal beauty. When I say beauty, I mean it. As seen in several photographs and shoots, Nepal is one paradise-like location with neighbors like India and China surrounded by the mighty Himalayan range.
I was in the "not-much-talked" about part of Nepal - Jhapa. One needs to cross the India-Nepal border to reach here. It was a thrilling experience undoubtedly.
Post the wedding, we sneaked out to visit the near by places around Jhapa. We took the ride through the valley route and went past many lush tree plantations towards Kanyam, in Ilam district of Nepal. It's popular for the tree gardens, picnic spots, and the freshly made chicken momos with the local delight "Thukpa". I'm already salivating thinking of the scrumptious food I once had.
It was around 4-5 degrees temperature along with thick and chilly foggy mist. There were men with local horses offering ride around the open region of Kanyam. Sweet friendly fellows. Again returned on a bumpy adventurous ride back to Jhapa in anticipation of the next little adventure we were to have next day.
I happened to visit this amusement park-like place called Jamunkhadi Simsar. It's a pretty tourist destination located in the eastern Nepal. 2 ponds named Ganga and Jamuna make it even popular. Sadly, Ganga pond could not be preserved, leaving Jamuna to be a boating attraction for children and young couples. I witnessed some really amazing flora and fauna. Fauna including wild boars, deers, python (in the cage of course), vultures, owls, porcupines and so on. It was a pretty sight to see such eye-pleasing creatures at Jamunkhadi.
The local language they speak is Nepali (not too easy to understand, but a sweet one); their national currency being Nepali Rupaih (is lesser in denomination than Indian Rupee) and the mesmerizing pretty attires Nepali women wear along with the distinct looking "vermilion" styled on the forehead and the Mangal sutra is quite a fascinating sight to witness.
This was my really short and brief stint to this beautiful place which holds some great memories in my heart. I'd like to cover Kathmandu and base camp Everest soon.
For the love of travel tales, views and mind-images - keep travelling, inspiring and winning the world.
Love,
Vinita
